Article-processing charges for the Journal of Intensive Care (2020)
Official article-processing charge for Journal of Intensive Care is listed below. However, it is now fully covered by the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine. Authors are not requested to pay this cost.
Article Processing Charges from 2021
From January 2021, the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine will cover a share of the APCs for all editorially accepted articles submitted to the Journal. The rest of APC shall be charged to the authors.
The Society-sponsored APC share of each accepted article shall be set as follows;
- For the articles submitted in 2021, the Society will sponsor 70% of the Journal’s then APC (30% charged to the author)
- For the articles submitted in 2022, the Society will sponsor 60% of the Journal’s then APC (40% charged to the author)
- For the articles submitted in 2023, the Society will sponsor 50% of the Journal’s then APC (50% charged to the author)
Open access publishing is not without costs. Journal of Intensive Care therefore levies an article-processing charge of £1570.00/$2170.00/€1790.00 for each article accepted for publication, plus VAT or local taxes where applicable.
If the corresponding author's institution participates in our open access membership program, some or all of the publication cost may be covered (more details available on the membership page). We routinely waive charges for authors from low-income countries. For other countries, article-processing charge waivers or discounts are granted on a case-by-case basis to authors with insufficient funds. Authors can request a waiver or discount during the submission process. For further details, see our article-processing charge page.
BMC provides a free open access funding support service to help authors discover and apply for article processing charge funding.
